Lacie Smith Employee Statement
After hearing about RMI from multiple people, I was excited to apply for the position and see what the Pacific Northwest guiding was all about. Little did I realize the opportunities and fulfillment it would bring. I was looking for a company that would push my growth in leadership and climbing. After my first season, I was sure I made the right move by joining a company that provided unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth. I was passionate about climbing and getting excited about starting a new journey of guiding. I soon realized that RMI was not just a job; but an opportunity that fostered leadership, development, and provoked continuous adventure.
What keeps me coming back to RMI every summer is their commitment to safety and quality. The company offers a supportive and dynamic environment where all guides are encouraged to refine their skills and expand their knowledge continuously. Since guiding for RMI I've gained access to some of the most rewarding guiding opportunities, including expeditions on Denali, and volcanoes down in Mexico.
What truly sets RMI apart is its dedication to guide development. The company prioritizes leadership training and provides a clear path for guides to advance in their careers. From the new guide training to taking AMGA courses, I am thankful to have found a company that is committed to my growth.
One of my favorite things about RMI is its collaborative team environment. Working alongside some of the most seasoned and respected guides in the industry has allowed me to not only grow my technical expertise but also develop the leadership qualities that are essential for guiding at the highest levels.
For those passionate about getting into mountain guiding and looking for more than just a seasonal job, RMI is a company where you can grow, thrive, and lead. Whether you're guiding on Mount Rainier or taking on new challenges in other regions, RMI offers an inspiring place to build your guiding career and make a lifetime of new friends to explore with.
