Explore the Alaska Range with RMI: McKinley, Seminars, and Alpine Training

Welcome to the Alaska Range—home to towering glaciers, steep granite spires, and the biggest mountain in North America: McKinley (20,310'). From the wide expanse of the Kahiltna Glacier to the rugged peaks of Little Switzerland, this is Alaska mountaineering at its most raw and rewarding.

RMI has been guiding on McKinley for over 50 years. Our legacy started in 1960 when Lou Whittaker summited the peak, and by 1975, RMI had led its first guided climb. Since then, we’ve completed more than 300 guided McKinley expeditions, making us the longest-running guide service on the mountain today.

With over 50 years of history on the mountain RMI is the longest running guide service working on Mt. McKinley today.

Whether you’re aiming for the summit of McKinley via the classic West Buttress, building skills on our Alaska Mountaineering Seminar – Expedition, or learning technical alpine climbing on our Seminar – Alpine in Little Switzerland, you’ll be learning from guides who’ve spent decades earning their stripes in the Alaska Range. This is where RMI’s depth of experience shines—and where we pass that knowledge on to you.
