Montana Ice - Introduction to Ice
Montana's Hyalite Canyon is one of the premier ice climbing destinations in the United States, with countless world-class ice cliffs.
RMI has partnered with Montana Alpine Guides to offer Introduction to Ice Climbing courses and private guiding in Hyalite Canyon. These are the perfect programs to broaden general mountaineering skills and prepare for technical climbing on the likes of Denali, Chopicalqui, and the North Ridge of Mt. Baker.
INTRO TO ICE CLINIC
This two-day course is designed to develop solid ice climbing fundamentals, including ice climbing technique, safety, and the skills to enjoy the wonderful sport of ice climbing and continue to progress. The Intro to Ice Climbing course takes place in Hyalite Canyon, just outside of Bozeman, Montana.
Montana Alpine Guides are some of the most experienced ice guides in the Rockies, and their staff includes RMI Guides Adam Knoff and Matias Francis.
Course Highlights:
- Hyalite Canyon's world-class ice cliffs are only a 15-minute walk from the parking lot, allowing maximum time climbing and minimal time on the approach.
- Climb with some of the best ice guides in the country.
- Learn essential safety skills like proper top-rope setup and placement, and rappel setup.
- Gain experience and skill climbing up to WI4 with coaching from excellent teachers.
- Enter the incredible world of ice climbing and acquire the skills that will allow you to climb large peaks around the globe!
